History
Assicurazioni Generali SpA was founded in 1831 in Trieste, Italy, then a vitally important trading port for the powerful Austro-Hungarian Empire. To this day, Trieste is still host to the head office of a Group that has constantly evolved in order to remain at the forefront of the modern financial services industry.
With assets under management in excess of €270 billion*, the Generali Group is a powerful player on the international stage. Fortune Global 500** quotes the Generali Group as one of the world’s top 30 companies, generating more revenue than such household names as Coca Cola, Microsoft and Vodafone. Independent financial ratings agencies also confirm the financial strength of the Group, with Moody’s rating the Company Aa3* and Standard & Poor’s AA*.
Today the Generali Group is represented throughout the European Union and in much of Eastern Europe. Outside Europe, the Group has a presence in North, Central and South America and the Middle and Far East. This international reach is Generali’s passport to the modern business world where globalization has made geographic and political boundaries increasingly irrelevant.
The strength of the Group’s position at the leading edge of today’s international finance industry was reinforced during a period of organic growth and acquisition of key businesses during the 1990s. This expansion has given the Group a level of business diversity that is the envy of its competitors and provides an outstanding platform for Generali International’s activities.
Generali International, located in Guernsey, can trace its roots back to 1977: from modest beginnings, Generali International today has become a leading provider of sophisticated and powerful wealth management solutions to a global audience.
