Cookie Policy

This page describes exactly what this site does with cookies and similar storage.

What we use

We load Google Tag Manager, which in turn loads Google Analytics 4. When analytics storage is permitted, GA4 sets first-party analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_<container>) that hold a randomly generated identifier used to distinguish one browser from another and to measure how the site is used. We do not use these cookies to advertise to you.

We also store your cookie choice itself in your browser's local storage, under the key qd-cookie-consent. This is not a cookie and is not sent to any server; it exists so we can remember your answer and stop asking.

Your choice, and what happens by default

We use Google Consent Mode v2. Before any tag runs, the site sets a default consent state, and that default depends on where you are:

  • If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland: analytics and advertising storage default to denied. No analytics cookie is set unless and until you press Accept on the cookie banner. Until then, Google Analytics receives only cookieless pings.
  • Everywhere else: analytics storage and advertising storage default to granted, so an analytics cookie may be set on your first page view. Advertising personalisation is denied by default everywhere and is only ever enabled if you press Accept. If you press Decline, we send an explicit revocation to Google, storage permissions are withdrawn, and that decision is re-applied on every later page load.

The banner appears until you make a choice. You can change your answer at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer, which clears your stored choice and shows the banner again.

Strictly necessary

The site does not set any cookie of its own to make pages work; the enquiry form posts directly and does not rely on a session cookie.

Managing cookies in your browser

Independently of the banner, you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Doing so may also clear your stored consent choice, in which case the banner will reappear.
